Eight Projects Inaugurated
Askari Nasab added: “The crossing for oil and petrochemical pipeline lines, the dry cargo warehouse, the safety enhancement and monitoring plan for Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantari ports, and a multi-purpose maritime rescue and assistance vessel are among the projects inaugurated in this ceremony.”
He continued: “The fundamental improvement of airline routes spanning 20 kilometers, the implementation of 17 port service branches, and the construction and operation of 27 housing units for port staff are also among the other inaugurated projects. The marketplace and the preparation of the surroundings of the port town’s sports complex were also put into operation in this program. In total, the implementation of these projects addresses a range of the port’s infrastructural, service, safety, and welfare needs.”
Strengthening Chabahar’s Position in Maritime Trade Network
The Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Sistan and Baluchestan stated: “The expansion of Shahid Beheshti Port’s infrastructure is underway with the motivation of increasing the capacity and quality of port services, improving safety and monitoring, and providing a foundation for economic and logistical activities. The operation of these projects, alongside the expanding plans of Shahid Beheshti Port, provides the groundwork for consolidating Chabahar’s position in the maritime transport and trade network and increasing the efficiency of port infrastructure.”
New Search and Rescue Vessel Joins Fleet
He said: “A search and rescue vessel has joined Chabahar Port’s maritime services fleet with the aim of increasing operational capacity, improving maritime safety, and enhancing readiness to assist vessels and seafarers.”
Askari Nasab stated: “This vessel joined Chabahar Port’s maritime services fleet during the inauguration ceremony of eight maritime and port projects, by order of Farzaneh Sadegh, Minister of Roads and Urban Development. The joining of this vessel to Chabahar Port’s maritime services fleet increases the port’s operational capacity in the field of maritime search, rescue, and assistance, and enables faster response during unforeseen incidents.”
Chabahar’s Strategic Role in Focus
The Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Sistan and Baluchestan continued: “Enhancing maritime safety and increasing readiness to assist vessels and seafarers in the region’s waters are among the fundamental objectives of utilizing this vessel. The empowerment of Chabahar Port’s maritime services tools and fleet, alongside the expansion of port infrastructure, plays a significant role in raising the level of services and safety of maritime operations at this strategic port.”
Sistan and Baluchestan, as Iran’s gateway to open waters and a vital passage of the North-South Corridor, has been the focus of special attention by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development in recent months, with this visit being the fourth field presence of Farzaneh Sadegh in this vast province. This series of visits has been planned with the aim of directly monitoring the implementation process of national mega-projects, including the strategic Chabahar-Zahedan railway, accelerating the connection of border lines, resolving chronic marginalization challenges on the Makran coast, and completing the province’s highway and rural ring — an approach that reflects the 14th government’s prioritization of the convergence of rail, road, and port infrastructure in the southeast to activate transit capacities and consolidate territorial justice.
